How to Avoid Getting Sick During Seasonal Change
Spring comes with warmth, bright sun, blooming flowers as well as sickness. While we are still saying goodbye to the chill in the air, spring sometimes greets us with a runny nose, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, and other cold and flu symptoms; the weather change can take our body by surprise. - Wash your hands regularly
While this is a rule we’ve been asked to follow as kids, we still forget to do it at times. In fact, not washing hands after sneezing or coughing is one of the main reasons why an infection can spread. So, wash your hands often with bacterial soap and strengthen your immunity.
- Keep yourself hydrated
Everyone knows the many benefits of drinking water. But people often struggle to cover the basic intake of water during hectic times. Keeping yourself hydrated boosts your immunity and energy levels. If you find yourself not being able to consume that much water, try other fluids such as soups, broth and fruit juice. Green tea also works wonders your immunity, have more of the same during this season. Coconut water is also a great drink under the sun and should be preferred above artificially sweetened drinks.
- Never assume about the temperature
As soon as spring comes we notice a rise in the temperatures, and we respond to it by taking off our warm, wintery layers. But the weather is known to fluctuate during these times, so don’t start stashing your winterwear away yet. You can definitely drop off your overcoats for dry-cleaning but do carry around a light jacket or a shawl that will protect you when the temperature suddenly drops.
- Get some light exercise
You might want to skip the gym if your body is showing some symptoms of weakness. Rather than doing a high-intensity workout, it is advised to keep your exercises light to help your body recover. Activities like heavy weight lifting or running can break down your immune system and make the body suffer additional stress. You can opt for yoga or walking instead.
- Have all the precautionary measures in place
Your body can take time to get used the temperature change, so one needs to protect it till then. Make sure you have everything from your medicines to your infrared clinical thermometer that can help you nip the illness in the bud.
